A step-by-step guide for DIY brides using Corjl envelope addressing templates

Let's be honest - addressing envelopes by hand sounds lovely in theory. In practice, somewhere around the thirtieth envelope, your wrist disagrees.

That's where printable envelope addressing templates come in. They give you that clean, polished look without the pressure of perfect penmanship - and unlike sticker labels, printed addresses sit beautifully with your stationery, feeling like they were always meant to be there together.

Part 1 — How to Edit Your Envelope Addressing Template in Corjl

Editing your envelope template is straightforward. Here's all you need to do:

Step 1 - Duplicate the template for each guest's address. You can duplicate it as many times as you need — one per guest, or one per household.

Step 2 - Edit the address details on each duplicated template. Click any text field and type your guest's name and address directly.

Step 3 - Download your file as a single PDF — with multiple pages — at the Design Default size. Make sure Flattened PDF is enabled before downloading. That's it. You're ready to print.

Part 2 — How to Print Your Envelope Addresses at Home

Printing envelopes at home is far more manageable than most people expect. With a little preparation and one test run, you'll have a full stack of beautifully addressed envelopes without leaving the house.

Step 1 - Know your printer

Every printer works a little differently. Take a few minutes to familiarise yourself with yours - a quick search for your model name can save a lot of frustration later. It's worth it, we promise.

Step 2 - Check your envelope size

Not every printer handles every envelope size. Go to Print > Page Setup > Page Size to see what's available. If your envelope size isn't listed, you can usually create a custom size - just enter the dimensions manually.

Step 3 - Always do a test print first

Before loading your real envelopes, test with a sheet of plain paper:

— Cut it to match your envelope size

— Mark it with notes ("Front Top," "Back Flap") so you can track orientation

— Run a test print and check alignment

Once everything looks right, print one real envelope before running the full batch. This small step saves a lot of envelopes from being wasted.

Troubleshooting - When Things Don't Go to Plan

Even with the best preparation, printers have opinions. Here are the two most common issues and how to fix them:

"Why isn't my design centred?"

Some home printers shift slightly when feeding envelopes. Try selecting Borderless Paper in your print settings — this often resolves the alignment issue.

Pro  Tips for the Best Results

"It prints perfectly on paper but not on my envelopes."

This one comes up often, and it's an easy fix. Go to Print > Properties and experiment with different Paper Types - try Heavy Stock or Photo Paper and see which one gives you the cleanest result on your envelope material.

📐Print at Actual Size - always

Set your print size to 100% (Actual Size), not Fit to Page or Scaled. This is the most common cause of misaligned addresses.

📏Double-check your envelope size

Make sure your envelopes are the exact same size as your template (for example, 5.25 x 7.25"). Even a small difference will throw off the alignment.

⚙️Match your print settings to your envelope

Select Centred orientation and confirm whether Portrait or Landscape is correct for your envelope. Watch out for automatic margin settings that might override your layout.

🖨️Set your print quality to High

Switch from Draft or Standard quality to High Quality or Photo Quality for the crispest, most polished finish.

A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Print

✦ Low ink levels can cause smudges, streaks, or faded colours - check your cartridges before you start.

✦ Clogged nozzles are common if your printer hasn't been used in a while. Run the Clean Nozzles function from your printer settings before printing.

✦ Textured envelopes can be trickier - always test print first and try switching your Paper Type in settings if the ink isn't sitting well.

✦ Print quality matters here - always use High Quality or Photo Quality for your final run.

You've Got This

Printing envelopes at home doesn't need to be stressful. With a test run, the right settings, and a little patience, you'll end up with a stack of beautifully addressed envelopes that look considered and cohesive - exactly the way they should.

Pour yourself something nice, load up those envelopes, and know that your guests will notice the care that went into every single detail - right from the moment your invitation lands in their letterbox.
